When there Seems to be No Way

His Plan: Abundance, not Scarcity

By: Susan Deborah Schiller

A Five Minute Friday Writing Exercise (Info to join us is below!)

The sparrows in my backyard are a joyful flock, and never appear to mind when the blue jay chases them back to their fence post, or when the blackbirds gobble up the best seeds in our sunflower patch. They just sit and wait, and in the waiting their bird songs are beautiful in my ears.

God's eye is on the sparrows, and I ponder why. Maybe because they're so tiny, vulnerable, and afraid. A lot like me throughout my life. I feel lost in this big world of competition, greed, and violence. I don't want to compete, fight, or hoard. I just want to sing my own song. So I wait. I listen.

Father, I need Your plan, not my own.

"Press in, draw closer. Every good gift comes down from the Father of Heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. Come in, rest, and close the door on nagging doubts and worries. I have a way; I have a plan. My countenance – look at Me – I am confident in Myself.

Build your faith on solid Rock, not shifting sand. I will deliver you and rescue you. Watch and see – wait confidently and expectantly."

So I won't worry about this fast-paced world and how little I seem in my own eyes. Like Caleb and Joshua of old, I will, instead, see through my Papa's eyes. I will wait in confidence and with great expectations of what He can do in my life.

His eye is on the sparrow, and that is me. An abundant life is His plan for me. He is the Way, the Life, and the Truth. Even when I least expect it, a way will open up for me. I gladly exchange my own plans for His. Today, Abba, I will trust you!

I love the way that you connected plan with sparrows. I also loved the line that said, "I will wait in confidence and with great expectations of what He can do in my life." Beautiful words of wisdom! Thanks for sharing! Blessings, Carrie
