Living Valentine’s Day Every Day!

Love is a Potent Immune Booster!

By: Susan McKenzie

Hundreds of movies and books are filled with stories of "love potions",  tales of "true love" and even miracles that happen when people perform extraordinary deeds – all for love. What if you could bottle up a "love potion" and preserve an unending supply of it for your family?

This is no fairy tale…

Love contains a potent power that transcends time and distance… it can actually be measured scientifically!

Scientists have proven Love's ability to bring peace, healing, and an overall "good feeling" to the person receiving the love… but also the person giving the love. People witnessing the act of love receive the exact same measurable benefit as the one giving and receiving the love!

A hormone called "Oxytocin" is released when someone smiles, hugs, kisses, or in some way loves us. Doing a good deed for someone releases this powerful chemical… sometimes called the "love hormone". One of the simplest and easiest ways to bring joy, healing, and a sense of well being to our families is to write love letters.

Have you received a love letter lately? If someone has given you a love letter, you've received a treasure of great value… one that is worth preserving forever! The best part about publishing a love letter in your Life Story is that it becomes part of your legacy to the next generation.

Love letters are the perfect way to say "I love you" because they can be saved for years, even generations… and the potency never diminishes or expires!

Each time you read a love letter your mind, body, and soul are saturated with the love hormone, oxytocin! Oxytocin makes you feel good and it builds your immune system. Oxytocin is reported to be the world's best anti-aging ingredient and we each need about 30 "points" of oxytocin every day to be healthy. A good hug, smile, or kiss is generally worth about 3-points… and whether we are giving, receiving, or witnessing the love, each person benefits!

Would your world look and feel a little better with more oxytocin released in your family's lives?

What releases Oxytocin? A smile, a hug, a touch… a love letter!

Here are some ideas I recently heard discussed among friends who are pursuing outrageously happy marriages:
  • One husband leaves for work before his wife wakes up, so he wrote a love note on the toilet paper!
  • Another husband drew a heart on a steamy bathroom mirror.
  • One couple leaves steamy messages via texting on their cell phones.
  • One wife makes his special dinner.
  • My husband (who never liked tatoos much) had a heart tatooed on his forearm with our initials on it!
These people are living extraordinary lives – they are going beyond the "average" and aiming – every day – for outrageously happy marriages and families. Just think of the security their children are feeling as they watch this happening before their eyes!

Would you like a really good dose of Oxytocin right now? The following video is hilarious! It's a story of one mother who gave her teenage daughter a love letter that has never been forgotten… and how that love letter is changing the world. Watch Amanda Gore teach about "Zooties" … and catch some yourself!

Did you get your "Zooties" today? It sounds more user-friendly than "oxytocin" but it really means the same, doesn't it?

Every day we are living a legacy in front of our kids, whether they are in our home or a thousand miles away. This legacy contains our life experiences – how we responded, what we learned, and how we've benefited and grown… as well as photos, videos, letters, and other memorabilia. It's the stuff of every day life… so ordinary that many times we forget to document it!

Through the trials, the fun times, the silly and goofy days, and the deep and meaningful occasions, every moment is logged in our memories… but those memories are vulnerable to age, dementia, or physical loss.

I'm writing my life story book right alongside you! As I select photos to add to my love letters, my heart swells with gratitude for every year I've had with my husband and children… with my parents and siblings… with my friends. By taking the time to document our lives, we are setting up the next generation to benefit endlessly from our invaluable life experience.

This year let's write love letters that will launch our children into their destiny.

We can offer words of blessing that will heal their hearts and nourish their spirits. As you know, the words we heard from our own parents have helped to shape our own lives, for good or for otherwise! Too many times as parents we get short-tempered with our kids and words stream out that we regret. Wouldn't it be nice to put into writing the words we intentionally want our children to hear – over and over again?

To write a love letter is really pretty simple and doesn't take much time!

Simply focusing on the greatness in each other and calling it out, naming it… makes it multiply! What we focus on multiplies.

Is there someone you know who could use some words of love and encouragement? Maybe someone who may have never received a love letter. Is there someone who has lost a loved one this past year? Perhaps it's their first Valentine's Day without a spouse…

Whatever the occasion or circumstance, this year is the perfect year to begin a new tradition, if you've never written love letters or letters of blessing before. Simplify and get loving again. Love can eliminate all the ‘drugs’ and ‘happy pills’. Susan great gift idea that replaces all valentine t-shirts and candies.

I have saved every letter, card and note my husband has ever given me (even the ones that he left on my nightstand while we were on vacation that said “gone to get coffee my dear”!)…what a wonderful idea to include these in our life story book for our children and grandchildren! I LOVE the video too!
