Delayed for a Greater Glory

Delayed for a Greater Glory

Something truly big and wonderful is coming and Evil has decided to push back a lot harder. You may be experiencing this, too, when the relief so desperately sought is delayed for yet another day… or month… or year.

This week I've been dancing with God more than ever. In fact, the trials had been so heavy that I really felt weighted down. But the dance drained the stress and the infilling of God's Spirit caused me to use the adversity to fly higher… to that place where you catch a glimpse of what God's doing and saying.

A picture of Lazarus coming out of the tomb sprang to mind, and I remembered Jesus' words to his friends, "The delay was God's idea – it was because God wanted to give them a 'greater glory' through the adversity.

All of our trials are "light and momentary" in light of eternity. Sometimes evil wins a battle, but never the war. Nothing of truth and love ever disappears. Nothing you've lost is ever gone, whether people, possessions, or positions.

For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! – 2 Corinthians 4:17

Nothing of true value is ever lost, diminished, or stolen. All the enemy can do is give you "greater glory" or "double for all your troubles".

But when I'm in the midst of incredible tragedy all my emotions and bodily responses to stess are put under pressure, and I discover what is really inside of me… peace or anxiety.

Dancing with God pushes out the anxiety, for me. Some other stress relievers are exercise, Valerian Root, or even Bach's Remedy, an herbal supplement.

It's in peace that God's creative powers emerge. It's in rest that God moves on our behalf. Peace is a gift and rest is our inheritance.

For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said, "In my anger I took an oath: 'They will never enter my place of rest,'" even though this rest has been ready since he made the world. – Hebrews 4:3

This week I have listened to evil lie, accuse, and charm people into doing an incredible injustice. I watched their hands clasped tightly behind their backs as their twisted words did untold damage to a minor child and her mother.

People who lie, accuse, and cheat are full of anxiety and fear. They are empty and feed on hurting others.

How does God see this tragedy I ask myself. What is He saying? I believe, that for today, He's saying, "This delay is for a greater glory. Let My kingdom come and God's will be done, here in this world, and in this life. Watch for the victory and celebrate with praise."

Something big and wonderful is on the way, beginning inside of us. This is a refining pressure that is creating something beautiful out of that which has been broken. When you come to the end of what you can do, rest … and in that peace watch for God's doing.

Don't rely on your emotions to define what is happening for you. Look beyond, look up, and listen for God's Word for your situation.  This is my own word – this is what God's given to me, for my own situation today. What is God showing you?
