This Peaceful Place

This Peaceful Place is a restoration ranch. Sometime we land in tough spots in life and we need time away to recover and to reinvent ourselves from the traumas of life. Nature is the best healer, and we provide space for you to come, walk in the forest, kayak in a river, or simply sit on a deck in a quiet breeze.

This Restoration Ranch began in the dreams of one little girl, who some would call "scarred for life" but who God calls beloved daughter. We're here to help her change the world, by discovering her true identity and mission in this world. It is said that one person who truly finds their true self and life mission will lead to 10,000 others doing the same!

We offer this space for adults and children alike, with cabins, yurts, dome houses, and earthships, eventually. For now we are working with what we have, which includes our house, camper and a tent! No matter how traumatized, children are far more powerful than we imagine. Each child has the potential to change the world, especially when supported by a loving family… and animals!

Horses are healers, too. Once we have our permanent land we'll be bringing in horses. Right now we have a dog, several cats, a rabbit, and chickens. There is much healing to be found in Nature.

Everyone on our team has had our own time of profound healing exploring in the forests, rivers, and simply sitting on the back deck.

Even though we're not operating as a healing ranch officially yet, we often have guests who come to take in the breaktaking beauty. They leave refreshed and with a new perspective for their lives.

As we prepare to launch our healing ranch dream we each work toward our goals. We believe restoration and healing is not just for ourselves, but also for the land. We take what other people discard or reject and repurpose them, creating works of art.

As an income stream we create patios and do landscaping, fell trees, and right now Rob just completed a masterpiece bathroom project in a local house, creating an indoor waterfall.

Susan continues to help trauma survivors tell their stories in a way to rewrite their future, creating beauty out of ashes. She creates and maintains our websites and is responsible for marketing.

Sara is is cultivating the soil and preparing a garden, taking care of chickens, and working a full-time job. She's our administrative expert!

Rob also maintains our vehicles. The winch truck, to the left, is a huge worker-beast! Right now it needs a new transmissions, but once it's up and running we have a demolition project that will provide rafters we can use to build a greenhouse!

As you can see, the land surrounding this area is absolutely gorgeous! It's a dream destination for many people across to world. Each summer this town expodes in population, bringing in fishermen, hunters, and people who love the wilderness!

In fact, there is a current shortage of rentals and vacation houses, so we are prepared to create additional income streams by renting out the cabins we create.

Our long-term goal is to buy approximately 20 acres with room for many more families and children. In the meantime we are renting a small ranch and building our team. In the picture to the right you can see the backyard.

Our housing project is unique, in that we are planning to construct Dome Houses and what is sometimes called Earth Ships. You can see some of the models in these youtube videos:

In this area there is a current shortage of housing rentals, so our planned community will be meeting a need. In addition, vacation rentals are also in high demand, so we will rent out cabins and houses for tourists, at separate locations, providing an income stream for our non-profit ranch.

Each planned community of affordable homes will be constructed in a circle around a communal farm area.

There are so many resources online for women coming out of abusive relationships, but the field is more limited for children. My local library had zero resources for children, in fact, recovering from sexual molestation. Amazon has plenty, but my library had none! Most of the books focus on sending the message to go to a counselor or therapist… which is okay, but what if a child can’t? We’ve come a long way as a society in making it okay for children to tell their stories and receive help but there is still so little local support for kids. The support on a national level is greater, but the annual tuition fees are more than I make in year.

My goal is to start an affordable residential school, and right now it’s baby steps with networking, writing, and collaborating to produce a film series. It feels like painfully slow progress, but I realize plowing the ground is one of the hardest parts.

The town I live in has an extremely high proportion of registered pedophiles and child molestation is considered normal. This past year I’ve spent too many hours to count (thousands) listening to hearts of children who have endured rape, even from a young age. Their grief gets buried too easily. They find they have to speak up countless times before they are heard, and when they are heard, they are doubted or disbelieved.

Anyway, today is the day my application for a trademark is in motion. Another baby step completed!

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by MARSHA BURNS:
Significant changes have taken place that affect you. Instead of looking back with remorse, set your heart to move forward with a sense of hope and purpose. There are things that you need to understand and accomplish. Position yourself for progression, says the Lord.
1 Timothy 4:15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.

Hi Susan, i have this overwhelming disire to tell/write my story. But dont know where to start. My story is a bit different than the ones i see on here. Have found my voice after being silent about some abuse that happened when i was 8 . This silence lasted 45 years, the box has been opened and i am being set free. I have been on the most amazing journey, i know its far from over but the Lord has been relentless in showing me who He really is. I long for others to be set free and see their true identity in Him. Where do i start?

For some reason your website wont accept my personal Gmail address? I have submitted my family email address

Hi annon,

When I started writing, it was just for the sake of writing. I wrote for me alone. I never imagined sharing with a wider audience. And that was back when there was no internet, anyway.

If you want to share in increments, a little at a time, you are welcome to share here at TFO… I love how you say your journey is far from over but the Lord has been relentless in showing you who He really is. That’s where the journey begins!

Have you asked God where to start? Maybe have a little quiet time and just rest in Him, not trying to figure it out, and wait for Him to show you?

Part of a word from Lance Wallnau, regarding "Keep exposing, keep telling the truth!"

EXPOSURE OF TRUTH…
is what is happening, that's all. The long shroud of darkness that kept a veil over the EVIL is now coming down.

IF enough people stop being complacent and get fired up, the coordinated effect will be staggering. Before the lights go out over America, the lights will be turned up bright. TRUTH will always condemn a LIE.

I've said this all along- but people have not taken me seriously…It's a REMNANT in the 7m HIGH PLACES that shape and manipulate the masses. Let prayer prevail and a few honest souls rise up in high places and if the foot soldiers show up in social media, on the street and in their political activism and the game changes. The secret to victory is as Wilberforce said near 200 years ago..

"THE BATTLE IS WON BY A SUSTAINED PATTERN OF PUBLIC PERSUASION."

I'M SAYING…KEEP PRAYING. Something is happening and heaven is moving in response to somebody's prayers. Could be you!

No I have studied it a lot as my daughter married one 34 years ago & is still with him who had turned their kids into NPDs as well, he has full control of all of them I have not read or heard of a sociopath getting free from this disease. We are Christians and sorry we allowed our beaten down daughter to marry him. He will not have anything to do with God or allow or daughter or grandkids to either. His mother is the worst NPD I have encountered & has moved in with them at aged 82 .NO cures except a miracle from God .It has been heart breaking for us & our daughters 3 brothers who are not allowed near her he made Christmas time terrible would have a fit & take all them home first thing Christmas morning & it is my birthday as well that day.

Your daughter and her family are lucky to have a dad who researches and studies in order to better understand his family. Your pain as a parent is excruciating. That, I know, from personal experience. There is nothing worse or more hurtful to the world than even one damaged family. The family is the backbone of society. The fact that is worsens at Christmas and on your birthday deepens your pain and it’s an abomination!

I do believe miracles are already underway for your family. Your light, love, and prayers are shaking the foundations. Don’t ever give up or feel like it’s too big or too late. You can rewrite your family’s history!

So glad I stumbled upon this website!  Coming out of a 16 year relationship with a sociopath and finding it difficult.

Hi Sue,

16 years, wow – I’m glad you are coming out! It’s more than difficult, it’s mind-bending. But the more you are educated about pathological relationships, the easier it becomes to extricate yourself from the craziness, the terror, and the exhaustion of dealing with a sociopath.

I send you love and light!

So now I know what to label my father and husband! Although not in the same awful situation as you, I see so many behaviors I didn't understand, made clear, and best of all, fore warned is fore armed. Now I can see why I seem so normal when in out, and change in theit presence….already trying the changes to make sure I am the real me no matter what….yes!

I am not in danger physically and I have a much easier time than so many, but the fog had lifted, I can enjoy what I want, ignore the rest, and help my sons, who are fine, learn more about what it is and how to deal with it. I am 60 but never too late to learn. Thankyou so much for sharing your life story, agony and the enlightenment, such a blessing you are 🙂

Hi Hilary,

Thanks so much taking time to say hello and share a little of your story. It feels good to come out of the fog, doesn’t it? I’m not much one for labeling people, but in this case naming the pathology is the first step toward emerging from the darkness.

I’m so glad you’re sons are fine – that is the best blessing there is!

Thanks again for your kind words and for sharing here, Hilary! 🙂

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by MARSHA BURNS:

You can make great progress spiritually at this time, but you must be willing to let go of everything that will keep you where you are.  Your stubborn refusal to hang on to whatever represents comfort or security will become a stumbling block to your own personal liberty.  Be willing to rise up from where you've been and soar in the Spirit on your thermals of faith, says the Lord.  Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Hi Susan!

Thanks for your comment on my site. Somehow I clicked on your link and got to someone elses site…weird. Oh well, I got the opportunity to read and comment on her post. Your work sounds so interesting. I've always been curious about the lives of victims and their perpetrators. That's likely why I write crime fiction on the side…lol. Love your words Susan. Roaring truth to set captives free.  God's truth cannot be quelled or quenched.  It is water for the soul and rest for the weary.  It is the invitation to join in community with Him.  Good word!!!
