No Longer Prey
In the "Love from Papa" series
"Let her wounds heal yours," said Papa God. He continued, "Take all her pain, every bit of it."
I journal what I sense God saying, whether or not it seems accurate at the time. Most of the time it sounds like a whisper, a faint voice in the back of my mind. Sometimes it comes as a shout. Most of the time it's just a few words and it feels like I'm walking through a dark forest, trying to catch the next ray of Light.
Meaning always comes, sometimes years later. It might be a book, a movie, or the Bible. All Truth is God's truth.
Dean Koontz, in his book, "The Darkest Evening of the Year," says:
"We are rescued by those whom we have rescued. The saved become the saviors of their saviors."
Perhaps that explains Jesus' words:
If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. – Matthew 16:25
Some people say I rescue victims of sociopathic abuse. The reality is, they rescue me.
I simply listen to the stories. I enter into their pain. Their blood spatters on me as they write their pain away. I feel what they are feeling. That's what they need most – to know that you really know what they've experienced!
And that is the answer to my own prayer:
Daddy, I want to see as you see, hear as you hear, speak as you speak. I will follow you today wherever you go and do whatever you want me to do.
You see, I used to be numb, cold, and dead inside. I moved like a robot through life. My spirit was wounded, weak, and wasting away through neglect. My soul was aligned with evil through my negative thoughts. I was my own worst enemy.
I'm learning to take responsibility for caring for my soul, guarding my heart, and nurturing my spirit. A psychiatrist can't do this for you. A pastor cannot pray it away. Sometimes God removes all unhealthy support systems until it's just Him and you.
No person can do for you what God alone does, as we simply listen to what Heaven is saying. And then run for that ray of Light.
So I keep listening. I look for Christ in the person who emails me, leaves a comments, or I encounter face-to-face. So often Christ speaks through the most surprising people. For Balaam, he even spoke through a donkey. Even through our enemies, we can hear the voice of Truth, albeit distorted and painful.
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. – Psalm 19:1
God speaks through all living things. Life is sacred. There is healing in the beauty of creation. As I explore God's Nature through His Creation I learn to listen to Love, to think Love-based thoughts, and to make Love-based choices. It's time to rest from all the struggles to understand everything. Rest is an act of war.
You are no longer prey. Your abuser can't devour you any longer, when you discover that he was empowered by your fear-based reality. Love always wins. Love overcomes all evil.
You don't have to hide, run, or be afraid one more minute!
Your abuser might still be living with you. Every day he attacks your identity, your character, and your emotional and physical well being plummets. But God is saying, "Rise up!" Run TO the battle! Your God is fighting for you. Take your share of the spoils of war.
The threats, the intimidation, the poverty… I know it all seems real. But it's an illusion. The kingdom of darkness exists only in our minds. Jesus came to save us from the darkness… not for some future time. No! He said to us, "The Kingdom of God is nigh." Right here, right now. That's why we pray, listen, and write… because words are powerful. They create our world.
Heaven is in our midst. You are never alone. You are safe. You are loved. You are needed. You are wanted.

Sue, that's where I was when I found your site and began my healing journey. No longer numb, cold or dead inside, I am walking steadily toward freedom. I do not know what the future hold, but I know who holds the future and I trust and rest in that.

Those of us who have walked on this lonely journey understand how deep the pain is…. but also the height of JOY, too!

I woke up a few mornings ago with the words, "Poverty is a disease."
How many Christians do we know who never have enough of what they need….
Poverty is not even on the same wave length as abundance.
Jesus came to give us abundant life. If poverty persists among us – in our church, our neighborhood, community – nation – that means the Kingdom of Heaven has not yet been manifested in the lives of believers.
Churches dole out food, clothes, and sometimes shelter.
Jesus handed out food, too… but in the same story we see that He didn't approve of the crowds following Him for a free meal!
The point of handing out food was to bring Love at that moment in time, to show people that God cared about their temporal needs as much as their spiritual needs. Everything of importance happens in the moment; therefore, we can't suppose that because God did that at such and such place to such and such people that we should set up a homeless shelter and feed people at that station from that point on.
I'm not sure that our homeless shelters are solving the disease of poverty. To heal a disease you don't start a war against _______. Like the war on drugs. Or the war on terrorism.
To heal a disease you administer healing foods, healing herbs, healing prayer, healing touch, healing words….
You bring what is in darkness into the Light.
What is poverty?
It's the sense of lack, of falling behind, of never succeeding….
If Christ lives in me, is it possible to lack anything?
If Christ lives in me, is it possible to fall behind, to ultimately fail?
If Christ lives in me, I have everything I need.
If Christ lives in me, I am enough. I have enough. I will never lack for any good thing. I may fail, but I will ultimately prevail.
In Christ, I can do all things. Nothing is impossible.
Poverty is a disease. It's time we start acting like it's a disease and not just a "problem" we can throw money at. Money doesn't solve anything.
Money is not the answer.
I really think we need to rethink "Christian Ministry" and while we shouldn't overlook feeding and clothing the poor, the best service we can provide is to heal the disease of poverty…. which begins with knowing who we are – and Who lives within us.
What does Christ want to do to heal our impoverished souls, minds, and bodies?
What step can I take today to abolish poverty in my own heart and mind?
