Financing Your Dreams

My husband and I had been working on a dangerous job, loading out hazardous materials in a petroleum coke field until he got hurt. When our boss read the doctor’s report he terminated us both the day after I brought home my own “Bionic Man“, a computer installed in his hip with controlled an electrical system that had been threaded all the way up into the thoracic spine.

With our medical bills soaring and our income having plunged to zip, it was time to make a change… fast. We moved back home to Northwestern Montana, a rural area, where it was a bumpy 60-mile trip on a narrow mountain road to get to town and back. My husband didn’t qualify for unemployment or disability benefits until much later, so it was up to me to be his 24/7 caretaker and to pay the bills in a place where jobs are always scarce.

In my diary, I took stock of our accounts, and the move from the job site in California to Montana had sucked up nearly everything and we were down to less than $50.

No matter which way we looked, it seemed hopelessly impossible. We could no longer afford health insurance. My husband was on hard drugs: morphine, oxycontin, and more. When the morphine was gone, he withdrew from the drug cold turkey. There were days when all he wanted to do was die and he often begged me to let him die. 

What do you do when it hurts so bad you want to die? 

One thing I know: Trials are like coins. One side is the problem and the other side is the provision. Every trial comes with its own solution.

Another thing I know: Gratitude is the Great Neutralizer of Negativity. Whatever you focus on, you get more of.

Lessons like these aren’t learned over night. In my diaries I recorded the struggles, the prayers, the Scripture verses, and more over a period of years. Heaven didn’t seem to be overwhelmed by our problems. In fact, the more intense our pain, the more brilliantly hopeful our outlook appeared!

It was like Heaven was daring me to peer at our problems through God’s eyes! To embrace the Kingdom’s resources, bringing heaven’s solutions to earth.

In a dream, God dared me to change how I viewed my life. Back in 2007 we were in a debt stranglehold of $320,000. In the vision I saw my wallet full of credit cards whose balances were pretty much maxed out. I heard His voice saying:

“Let’s trade cards. You give me yours and I’ll give you Mine!”

I inspected Papa God’s credit card and I saw that His balance was millions upon millions of dollars – no limit, in fact! My name was written on his card. He had authorized me to use His Name for anything I needed! ^a

What would you do, if legally given an unlimited credit card?

Seriously, imagine the possibilities. You can’t waste a thought, I discovered. Every thought is a prayer. The reason many of us have trouble using this unlimited card card is that we are double-minded. What we believe is what we receive.^b Basically, you can’t ask for a million dollars unless you believe, without wavering, that the million dollars is actually on its way to you. Even then, you must be prepared to receive it.

Many of us have conflicting thoughts about finances, and our thoughts cause us to speak negatively. We may pray well enough but then when we speak, we say things like, “I don’t have enough money for that,” or “My budget won’t allow for this,” or “We can’t afford to do that.” We create our world with the words we speak, which show what we really believe. What we believe is what we get. Perception is everything.

God has everything we need to fulfill our life mission stored up for us. ^c  We often go without because we read it but don’t know how to apply it.

Knowledge without application is wasted. Knowledge plus application equals wisdom.

God showed me in a dream a picture of a down-sized birthday party. As parents we had done our best to bring joy to our birthday girl, but it could have been a lot nicer. I saw a storage room full of birthday party hats, toys, games, etc… everything to make a party fun and exciting but we just didn’t know it was there! We had settled for less because we were depending on our own resources, skills, and abilities. ^d  We didn’t take time to look into Heaven’s store house and to bring it to earth. ^e

It takes time to create our world. It takes preparation to receive the great gifts God has in store for us. If you are experiencing lack today, if you feel the stranglehold of debt, or if you need to finance a dream, there is Good News today.

God wants to bless you. If you are his son or daughter, your name is stamped on His credit card. There are universal rules established in making use of this provision:

• BE – You are God’s child, royalty. He wants you to rule in the midst of your enemies ^f, not cower or fear. We rule with our voices. We decree God’s Word and it manifests. Our words are powerful so we must be careful to bless and not curse people.

• DO – Faith without words is dead. ^g  We must learn to take action, preparing to receive what we ask for in prayer. Do the work. Do the work. Do the work.

• HAVE – Okay, so we take a look about… and we examine what is manifested in our lives. Depression, worries, lack of provision, debts, etc… it’s evidence of fear-based living and we need to return to “BE”. If joy, peace, patience, love, goodness, provision, health, etc are manifested, then it’s evidence we have received God’s amazing grace in our lives.

I am not a prosperity teacher and I don’t agree with most of the prosperity teaching going around. I’m not saying that if you aren’t healthy and wealthy that you aren’t believing God or that something is wrong – no! There are ebbs and tides, season of our lives. 

There is beauty in each season, each event, each moment of our lives. The important thing to remember is that we’re on a journey. It’s a narrow, steep path that leads to Life. ^h  Not many are on this path. Most of the world is going in the opposite direction: thinking negative thoughts, blaming and shaming themselves and others, ignoring the fact that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand, right here and now! Negativity invites evil into our world.

It’s a wake up call to all of us, to live the life of our dreams. To dream again. God’s wants to finance our dreams.

Today I can tell you that I’m not all the way there yet… I’m still on the journey. My husband was miraculously healed (and then left me). I have a long way to go, yet, but I haven’t given up.  I celebrate the sprouts and thank Papa God for His mercy and grace.
