Bidding Farewell to 2013, with Gratitude

Bidding Farewell to 2013, with Gratitude

By: Susan Deborah Schiller

Thank you for being with me through 2013! Your presence here, in reading and commenting, means the world to me! Many of us have opened our hearts to each other. Others here are more quiet and yet your presence, too, is felt and I embrace you! Thank you so much for helping me to become who I am becoming! Together we are birthing new chapters of our life stories, our circles intersecting and connecting us in a profound way.

You have probably noticed an evolution in – in design, feel, and focus. It's not so much a dramatic change as a "centering" and a honing in on my real life's mission, which is to provide a safe place – a healing place – to unravel our life stories. The home for these life stories, whether solely in the privacy of our own hearts, displayed on a blog, or dissected in the pages of a hard copy book, is my focus for 2014.

"Release" has been my word for 2013. Releasing the need to control, direct, plan, and analyze. A shift from left brain to right, and a transformation of this website happened in the process. The journey of moving on began and continues into 2014. The real work begins!

"It may be that when we no longer know what to do,
We have come to our real work,
And when we no longer know which way to go,
We have begun our real journey."
– Wendell Berry

  • 2010 released me from ranching and ministry and into the great unknown.
  • 2011 ended in the tragedy of divorce as my husband decided to leave.
  • 2012 ended with a release from my job. I moved from Wyoming to Michigan, and then from Michigan to Montana.
  • 2013 has been all about beginning my real journey in living an authentic life.

Writing helps us to release, as we glean from the treasures of those life story chapters and to reach into the future to invest what we learned into our legacy, passing it in written form to our children and granchildren. Here's what I released:

I prayed a lot, too, and discovered that our prayers become the transcript for our unfolding life story. We can change our future!

I discovered how in the past I had attracted and enabled abuse and exploitation, but more than that, how to re-create my world and begin to attract positive people and life experiences in:

I learned the necessity in getting naked and being unashamed, along with the value of being vulnerable and remaining transparent:

I discovered that real strength comes from brokenness and that beauty can be created out of chaos:

I married and started a new life in a rural town, writing about some of these experiences in:

I finally figured out that ALL of LIFE is SACRED and we don't have to be so afraid of "contamination" by other religions!

I educated myself on the neurscience of pathological love relationships.

I realized that events, decisions, and choices in my childhood created the path that carried me through adulthood.

I thrashed around the concept of the steep cost of a Life of Love and Discovered the Infinite and Eternal Value of Suffering.

I had to reckon with the slow flow of my finances, learning to trust and to live a more simple life in order to put BEING ahead of DOING.

I realized creativity needs to be nurtured and that hanging out with right-brainers sparks and ignites the fire of passion, so I joined the Story Sisters and I wrote:

I embarked on a mission to write 101 Stories of "Love Wins" to encourage survivors that there really is an end to the pain and a purpose for the suffering.

How I see my world has completely changed and how I see myself is changing, too. That's where faith begins, by seeing with our hearts, believing, and giving those dreams a voice! I may be a dreamer, but if we remember who we really are – God's royal sons and daughters – then ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE to those who BELIEVE!

I DARE TO BELIEVE that 2014 will be a pivotal year, because I sense God has something amazing for all of us, this year. My word for now and into 2014 is BELIEVE! We are popping a qwiff and taking a quantum leap.  I want to believe BIG because, if I fail, what does the world stand to lose? That's probably one of the most important questions to ask ourselves, as we lean into a new year!

I'm believing with you for a better world to raise our kids. I want to wish you a Happy New Year and I ask God to bless you with everything you need to fulfill your dreams and goals for 2014.

Happy New Year!

I have learned so much from you, sweet Susan, as we kneel together at His Throne. I have found my word this year is FOCUS. I know what I need to do; I just can’t seem to take myself seriously enough to do what I know He has created me to do.
But I so appreciate you & your encouragement & oh, your praying for me–especially on those days I can do nothing but sleep due to Celiac symptoms or pain. He brings me to your mind, & I am so thankful for your obedience.
Yes, 2014 will hold new things we haven’t dreamed of; His BEST!
I wish you blessings overflowing in this new year my friend.

Oh Cyn, how can I thank you enough for all the kind words and unspoken gestures of love! Your own suffering has given you such amazing compassion!

I’m envisioning you with a magnifying glass in front of your eye, and as you focus on your immediate goal and your life mission I see it enlarging, expanding, and becoming so much more clear in details. I ask God to enlarge your territory and to give you a passion, complete with energy and strength, to complete the goals you already have placed in front of you for this year.

I ask God to renew your cells and to restore your body to wholeness. A whole system recharge. I ask for these things, in Jesus’ Name. Amen 🙂
