The Double Portion

Today I am working on an exercise in meeting my Thriver. I imagine a bridge and on the other side is the new version of myself, the new person I am becoming. I ask her questions and get to know her better… and I ask her to help me transition from fear-based living to a love-based, abundant life. So here we go…

Hello Thriver, I’m daring to cross the bridge to meet up with you again. There is a change I know I must make in my way of thinking, to be still, to cease striving, and to simply be at peace. To feel joy and love and fullness. To know Truth and be free.

What can you tell me today, to help me take the next step. I’m leaning in, learning to soar, and even to roar. What is next?

“Troubles may come, and Thrivers know what to do with them. If adversity strikes, it’s time to celebrate the good news that it’s time for elevation. You are to be elevated to a higher vantage point, where you can see farther and advance at an accelerated pace.

You thrive mainly in times of adversity. Tension means something is happening, so pay attention. Don’t ask why the trouble is happening but rather, ask what the provision is that is yours to grab hold of.

If you want to learn to thrive, you must expect, anticipate, and celebrate adversity. Yes, actually be GLAD for troubles!”

Oh… so this is what it means when God said to me, “I’m grooming you to grin in the face of disaster.”

“You’ve got it now. Have you been grinning lately?”

Sometimes, yes, but mostly I’ve been living at a lower level, in the realm of just barely keeping my head above water.

“It’s okay. You need to acclimate yourself to the higher elevation.”

Ah, so it’s like climbing a mountain, right? The air is lighter at higher altitudes and it takes time to get used to less oxygen.

“You’re learning. Let’s pick up the pace, shall we?”

Right! So if I understand you, each adversity, trial, or trouble is a SIGN of elevation up ahead, correct?

“Yep, you’ve got it. It’s like a road sign pointing to a higher level of living.”

Wow, Thriver, I really love mountains, flying, and the higher altitudes. I love light air, in the natural.

“I know, it’s heavenly, isn’t it?”

Okay, so my present adversity is this: I’m working in jobs that pay the bills, just barely, but I’ve had to quit what I truly love doing, so while I’m happy about surviving, I’m grieving the loss of my real love…. taking care of children, writing children’s stories, education….

“Count your losses. Keep an accurate record.”

Count my losses? It’s an astonishingly high number of things: houses, land, vehicles, jobs, friends, family….

“Now, next to each loss, write down a corresponding gift. Name what you want. This is what will cause you to grin in the face of disaster, because there are Universal laws of restoration. Whatever has been unjustly taken from you must be restored in kind, doubled!”

“Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.” – Zechariah 9:12

I remember this principle, but I thought it meant that I would receive my double portion in Heaven, after earth life is finished….

“Life is always happening in the Now; the future and past are all one. Time has limits but you are an eternal spirit being, as well as a soul living in an earth suit. The double portion is happening right now.”

So I must make a list of all that was unjustly taken from me and make a corresponding list of what I want?

“That’s your lesson for today.”

I will do this right away! Thank you, Thriver!
