The Avengers – Answering the Cry for Justice

The Avengers – Answering the Cry for Justice

By: Susan Deborah Schiller

In that foggy state between dreaming and waking I heard that quiet inner voice say, "Some people think I don't intervene and rescue them, when in reality I set in motion a plan to save every family and individual on earth. It's called "The Avengers."

Have you ever wondered why it seems God is silent in the face of suffering? Every day I am part of a group of survivors who are in various stages of recovery from domestic violence. In many cases our suffering is silent, because the perpetrators deftly use psychological torture behind closed doors combined with threats to keep their victim silent.

While the world sees the perpetrator as a good-looking, charismatic person who says all the right things and appears to be doing good, the victim's pain is rarely noticed.

In fact, we blame the victims. Sometimes the abuse occurs right in public, but no one seems to know what to do or say, so they turn their heads. This further abuses the victim, who is left to think even God has abandoned her.

There are plenty of victims in the world, but where are the avengers?

A couple of years ago there was a blockbuster movie called, "The Avengers." In this movie, God began to paint a picture of deliverance.

I've never been a big fan of super hero movies, but this one caught my attention when Chaos poured down from the sky through an open portal created by an instrument of the gods, called a Tesseract. It seems the humans were bent on using this "gift" to create super-guns in their ever-increasing military operations but it quickly spiraled out of their control. This seems a pretty fair description of life on earth today!

To counteract this Chaos, super heroes, both past and present, were united: Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Thor, The Hulk, and more.

Each hero was intent on saving the world all on his own. Not one of them was accustomed to team work. I thought they were going to kill each other, at first, while the bad guys got away with subjugating humanity. But as Chaos was unleashed in an overwhelming rush, and with human lives at stake, the super-heroes pulled together in a circle, all facing outward, and began fighting "as one."

I don't want to spoil the story for you if you haven't yet seen "The Avengers," but I do recommend the movie because of the ending. As the credits spill down the screen, a voice is heard bemoaning his loss. His booming otherworldly voice speaks on behalf of Chaos, complaining that he had been convinced Earth was going to be an easy takeover. He didn't expect to find people who were not easily subjugated and super-heroes who could fight together. He was taken by surprise by their courage and selfless cooperation.

It felt like I was briefly seeing the world – all the pain and suffering – through God's eyes. After seeing the movie and watching Chaos pour down through an open portal in the skies, I recalled another dream and its message very similar to "The Avengers" movie.

In the dream I was observing with a sense of alarm unusual black clouds in the skies, and out of the clouds poured down evil creatures, like rain. Beside me I felt the presence of God so I asked, "Father, can't we stop this Chaos pouring down from the skies?" He replied, "What you are seeing is a visible result of people's choices. I've given them dominion over the earth, along with the power in their words to rule it." In the dream I continued watching the Chaos as it poured down from the skies and quickly flooded the earth with a malignant darkness.

I saw in my own life and in the lives of my friends, how our choices, actions, and words have called into being this Chaos.

Chaos comes through good people who just don't understand the power of their thoughts, words, and actions. Simple phrases like, "I can't…" or "My cancer"… or "Damn you"… or "You're ugly"… "I hate…." or the thousands of careless things we call ourselves and others are manifesting in the circumstances of our lives. Statistics show most of us have negative thoughts 80% of the time!

Chaos is also unleashed when these same nice, good people close their eyes to evil or worse, silence the victims who dare to cry out for justice.

My counselors told me I was the most abused woman they had met in many years of counseling. I doubt anyone would want to compete for that title!

But God has a justice system, and whatever it is that has defeated you in your own life, is the very thing you are designed to defeat. With every problem there is an equal or greater provision. Each dilemma is equipped with its own solution.

It's time to make the leap from "victim" to "avenger."

Jumping back to the dream message, "Some people think I don't intervene and rescue them, when in reality I set in motion a plan to save every family and individual on earth. It's called "The Avengers."

I had never heard the phrase before, so I looked it up. In the Old Testament, a blood avenger is someone related to you by blood, or a kinsmen. Their job is to protect your extended family.

Hit man and body guard, all-in-one. Every family had an Avenger. In fact, God had to institute "cities of refuge" so that murderers would have a safe place to await trial.

The safety and protection of families was so much uppermost on God's heart that He instituted a plan that both protected the victims and the criminals… real justice, real solutions.

Putting it all together: "The Avengers" movie with these two dream messages…

I believe God is saying that He's not worried about the end of the world. He's got some surprises up His sleeve. Maybe one of those surprises is you and me…. and like the superheroes in "The Avengers," maybe we just all need to learn to cooperate instead of fight.

"Divide and conquer" is the number one strategy the real version of Loki, the evil superhero, uses. Diversity is great and makes us stronger. But political and religious walls separate us all into our own little castles with moats, protected by ever-growing military forces. It is not the solution we need.

The Chaos we are presently seeing has been growing since the beginning of Time and is getting worse despite our technology and sophisticated security measures. Up till the End of Time there will be wars and rumors of wars, but we are very close to the End. And the End is only a New Beginning, and it's very close.

It's the sequel to Calvary, and I'm guessing that we have a big role to play, for He handed us the keys to the Kingdom at the end of the last scene and gave us ALL authority on earth! I mean, did we miss that somehow? He gave us ALL authority to take dominion of the earth. Instead, we have built all these little kingdoms at war with each other.

There comes a time when victims need to take responsibility for the Chaos in their own lives, personally and corporately. The only time we have guaranteed is NOW.

We are royalty, not mere subjects of earthly kingdoms. We are immortals clothed in mortal body wear, created in our Father's image. What if you and I, just ordinary people, are the missing Avengers? Warrior princes and princesses.

It is said that in order to enter the Kingdom of God we must become like children. To be a success in God's Kingdom is to know and express the highest form of love: the daily action of laying down our own lives for the sake of loving the people who we may feel least deserve our sacrifice. That, to me, is being a true "Avenger".

When the true Avengers quit squabbling among themselves and quit building their own kingdoms (churches, ministries, political factions, etc)… quit feeling they have a corner on the market of Truth… and begin cooperating, fighting "as one" we will see great changes on Earth, beginning in our own personal lives.

Together we are that great cast of characters in this movie called life and we are co-creating this world, for good or for evil. Each of us is needed to play our part well. We must know our true purpose and destiny and then focus all our effort on fulfilling that role.

Today, I have republished this article, originally written in the summer of 2012, to remind myself that God has a plan when all hell breaks loose. He's creating something beautiful out of this chaos, and He bids me to co-create with him, by intentionally writing my story in such a way as to reframe the past and rewrite the future. What we speak is what happens.

Here and now, I recall all of God's promises and I embrace the Truth. I am eager to employ these promises in creating a new family legacy. I will answer the cry for justice. With God nothing is impossible.

My response from earlier still holds, Sue!  Much like a movie or a play, we choose (or are chosen for?) a role in the greater scheme of things.  Still, we have the power to change that role, often by sheer personal determination and faith.  One major obstacle is having the clarity to "know our true purpose and destiny and then focus all our effort on fulfilling that role," as you say.  For that, we need the peace and tranquility you've been seeking for yourself … so diligently.  And my guess is that all your questioning is taking you further along the path to clarity … and to your new role.

Hi Sharon,

Your penetrating insight and wisdom are shining a spotlight right into every corner of me, that’s for sure… yep. I have moved from victim to survivor, and from survivor to “thriver-in-the-making” but my goal is to beyond to “avenger” and to be able to rescue victims who are being bullied right in front of good people. Those are big steps, and I hope more survivors will have the vision that the problems we’ve encountered come complete with their own provision and solutions. Often what has hurt us the most is what we are intended to fix.

Thank you for your Light and Love, Sharon… so consistent and rock solid – thank you so much!

Just like the Avengers, we can take a stand and fight for what is right.  But we must band together and have a common desire.  I know that my words and thoughts create my life path, and I use them positively as much as I can.  If we banned together as a community, we could stop all violence and evil.

I love that you compared it to the Avengers.  Most super heros work alone, but they realized that there is strength in numbers.

You are a super heroe, for certain, Keri… and honestly, I don’t get to meet very many. But it only takes a few to save the world… I’m truly glad to have met you, Keri 🙂

Preach, sister, Preach!  Needed these words.  Needed to remember to fight the good fight of faith.  Needed to remember that we were made for intimate communion with God.  A good message to remind us Whose we are and we we're really made for.  Let's step out in faith and shine!

Susan, your story sets me thinking. You are a strong woman who has gone through chaos and chose not to be a victim. It's true each of us is needed to play our role well. Our very own part of the play called life. Taking hold of the truths and fulfilling our purpose and destiny.

So fun how you come up with this story and bring us back to the purpose and passion for our own life Susan. It truly is a gift that we have that we have the ability to choose the direction in our life; the question is how we will make the right choice…thanks!!

So very true, Olga… our little daily choices control the direction of our lives… an all together, the world! If we only realized how very powerful our minds are, in making these daily choices! Thank you for reminding us of this importance every day, in your own writing, Olga!

You’re a woman of wisdom, Sharon! I don’t think I would have chosen the role I’m in but I did volunteer. The power we have to choose is what makes or breaks us. And you’re right, I’m choosing a quieter and more peaceful path! When I was younger I used to know so much more than I do now… maybe that is learning how to be humble. I value your thoughtful questions and insights, Sharon, as a woman I have chosen as a mentor in life! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

Great article Susan, you definitely got me thinking this evening as I head off to bed. Your quote that "Together we are that great cast of characters in this movie called life and we are co-creating this world" is so in line with a conversation I was having with a friend recently and we decided that we all have the capability to create our own red carpet moment. We choose and we perform to the best of our ability. Thanks again

Thank you Susan! Excellent article…it brings to mind Mark 10:13-16; "…Let the children come to me, do not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of God. …"We must receive the Kingdom of God like a child and this is a choice, a legacy of love and peace! Thanks, Hughie 🙂

I love how you phrase, “…We must receive the Kingdom of God like a child and this is a choice, a legacy of love and peace…,” Hughie! We are leaving a legacy and it’s our choice as to whether it makes life better for the next generation or not. Thanks so much for sharing!

Susan, as usual, I love hearing the journey of your heart and am continually impressed at your fierce determination to find life in the midst of Chaos.
Are we the missing Avengers? It's a great question that can only be answered by acting like we are and seeing what happens. 😉

Very true, Angela… each of us can choose to act like we an Avenger and see what happens! I’m fascinated by God’s provision for the protection of the family. Each extended family was assigned an Avenger to guard and protect their family, and to take action if any of them were mistreated. I look around at the religious, governmental, and educational systems today and I wonder how it might look if we took God’s plan seriously… there is so much suffering in the world, and I believe God’s already given us what we need to end it. It’s just up to us to say, “Enough is enough!” Thanks so much for sharing, Angela… you are a woman I want to emulate in so many ways, for I know you walk in the way of Love! Thanks so much for sharing <3

This is an incredible article! Inspiring, motivating and encouraging…our greatest and most powerful gift is the power to choose…we can all choose what role we will play here on earth.  As you stated, "It is said that in order to enter the Kingdom of God we must become like children"…and when you really pay attention to children you will see they only know one way…unconditional love. And they remain that way until society, including parents, infect that natural desire to give and receive love with negativity, conditions and selfish expectations! Thanks for sharing this Susan!

It’s an honor to hear from you, Denny, for your teaching on the power of love, especially as it impacts the heart of society – the family – is so very powerful. I treasure your teaching and the wake up call it gives me and so many others to love unconditionally at all times, especially at home! Thanks so much for sharing!

I think of the thought all the time… what can I do to show my kids an example of love. It is a high goal, but one that really is worth the effort. And love begins with understanding, and understanding requires lots of talking and listening.
In fact, I recall that my oldest son once brought home from Hebrew School a picture book about the story of the Tower of Babel. And in that story it seemed to me, was the wisdom of life. It said above one illustration: "The people stopped loving one another because they stopped understanding each other." Would that we all knew, what a 6 year old knows.

Wow, Diane! I totally agree with you … if we could all know what a 6-year old knows! Children have so much to teach us. I would love to be a mouse in your house as you make it a goal every day to show your kids at least one example of love. That is a high goal but so much worth the effort, as you say! Thank you for inspiring me by sharing your story 🙂
